Kelly's Diary

Sunday, January 16, 2005

Friday morning Sam and mum came down to the stables to help out. I took Monty out on the road while Sam followed with Rio. We crossed over Long road and went down the the road of the left of the King Canute. Walked round a few of the back streets, crossed Link road and walked down the lake. Monty crossed one of the bridges without any fuss but Rio wasn't having any of it. I even tried making a trail of polo's across the bridge but that didn't work. In the end I walked Monty back over the bridge then we walked back down the lake onto Link Road. We cut through to Village Drive and walked back on Long road, passed the road works etc... Both Monty and Rio were fine, the traffic didn't bother them at all. We saw Paula on Tikka and Jan Horace as we walked down Village drive.
A bloke on long road wound down his car window and asked if Rio was for sale, apparently someone told him he was.
After lunch we went to the gym, we worked quite hard for just under 2 hours.
Went to pick the kids up from school, Samantha went round to Charlottes for dinner. While she was there I done the horses. I couldn't get Jasmine in, she was in one of her evil moods, the nearest I got was to get my fingers inside her head collar the she just reared up before I could get a grip of her.
I picked Samantha up, then went home and got Chinese for dinner.
After dinner I went back down the the stables to get Jasmine in but Leah and Scott had just got her in with their two. Libby and Beau and Jasmine's best field buddies.

Saturday morning back down to the stables, today it was the geldings day out.
We went to lakeside to change mum's birthday present. Samantha got a new Sleeping beauty dress from the Disney store. Went into Curry's and Comet to look for a deep fat fryer but they didn't really have many to choose from that were any good.
On the way home we stopped off at Ingatestone to buy Mexico her B-Max which helps prevent her fits. Samantha got a new fleece, Monty got his first bit and Jasmine got a new head collar to replace one she lost in the field a few weeks ago.
Went home, Samantha put her new dress on, we dropped mum present off but she was out so I left it on the table. There were two snails she had left me on the side, she brought them home from the school she works at part time. I have named them Brian and Roy.
Went round to Pat and Jim, Samantha stayed there while we done the horses. Rio was at the gate. Donna walked out with us to get Deisel in. We couldn't see Monty or Deisel anywhere, eventually after walking round two fields we found them.
Arsenal lost to Bolton so Darren wasn't to impressed.
Went back to Pat and Jim,while we were out Samantha and Pat had been making cakes. On the way home we stopped off at Gator's to get some fish and chips. Samantha had left a doll and toy bunny at Pat's so Jim drove down to Gator's to drop them off.

Went to Safeway after school to get a few bits then when we got home we wrapped up Jim's birthday present. I couldn't drop it off earlier because Samantha wanted to sign her card. Dropped the present off on the way to Sam.
We were a little later than usual, although it was already getting dark it wasn't too bad because the weather was mild. We done all the jobs then went out to the fields to get the geldings in. Sam waited at the gate while I started walking out across the fields. I was out quite away when I could see someone with a torch heading in my direction. It turned out to be two 10 year old boys lost in the dark heading in the wrong direction. They were looking for their football when they got frightened by the foxes. It's not really safe for kids after dark, there are ditches and the fishing lake let alone the danger of the horses if they were to all charge which wouldn't be unusual. We walked the boys across the field towards their home so they could jump across the dyke and go through their back gate. They didn't even have a coat on so they were a combination of cold scared and lost poor things. Eventually we got the geldings in and set off home for dinner.
I made cottage pie, one of my favorites and had it with corn on the cob.
Bunny came out for her evening run, she is getting braver by the day.

Been down to the stables, the geldings are out today. Michelle has decided she would like to buy Emily (horse for sale on our yard) but there's already someone comming to view her the weekend so we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Gemma (Leah's sister) is booking an Ann Summers party but doesn't know when yet.

The horses came in really well last yesterday which saves a lot of time. Rio was coughing a little so I'm going to have to go back to soaking his hay.
I got a phone call from Nissan to say the car is due for a service. I provisionally booked it in until I checked with Darren that it will be ok to have his car. Turns out I can't on that day because he has a governors meeting at 5pm, so I'll change the booking today.
Bunny came out for at least 2 hours last night, she isn't bothered by Robbie, Lady or Shane. We can't let Jason (GSD) near her because he wouldn't think twice about killing her.
Darren didn't get in from work until about 10pm so I didn't really see much of him last night.
It's my mums birthday soon and she asked for some face night cream. I bought one from Virgin Vie and when reading the box last night it said not for sensitive skin so I may have to go and change it for something else.
It's Jim's birthday today so I'll drop his birthday present and card off later.
I still haven't placed an order with Thorogoods, I'll have to try and remember to do that today.

Been down to the stables, it's much brighter today than it has been the last few days. Leah came down and asked if I could put her horses out because she was out looking for her sisters little boy, He hadn't turned up at school, there had been a boy of his description seen by the dual carriage way which isn't really that close to the school. I got a text from her about 11.30am saying that they found him in Benfleet and she will update me later.

Charlotte isn't at school today so we won't be going to the gym as planned, eventually we will get back down there.

Mexico and Rio

Set off for the stables, on the way I stopped of to pick up Sam and Charlotte. I pulled up outside and beeped my horn. While I sat there waiting a neighbor came out of their house and started to get into my car. She was quite an elderly lady and there was obviously a misunderstanding, it turned out she thought I was her hospital car that was over 20 mins late.
Sam and Charlotte got into the car and off we set to the stables. When we got there Jean told us that the fence had come down and some of the horses were in another field. Rio was at the gate ready to come in and Monty was near the back fence. I walked over to him and he came in fine. Usually he comes to the gate when I call so for a moment I thought he may have got caught on the fence.
I have brought Fifi's head collar home to wash, out of all of them she is the one which gets her head collar the dirtiest.

Went down to the stables and done the horses, it's geldings out today. Stopped off at Mac Donalds and got a happy meal and then drove over to Basildon to collect a parcel. First of all they couldn't find the parcel buy the reference number I had been given, then they traced it another way on the computer and said it was due to be delivered again to. They had already told me the last attempt to deliver was yesterday. They updated their computer so that no other attemps would be made and I could then collect the parcel tomorrow. I came home to find yet another yellow card in the door, I have a collection of these now but this one said the parcel had been taken in by a neighbor....This saves me the trip of going to collect it tomorrow.

After dinner last night I watched Emmerdale and Coronation street and then went back down to the stables to feed the horses and rug them etc...
It's hard to tell an exact due date but I think Biancas due to have her babies shorlty, she is Wilson white and Inca the dad is TOV Ebony. He won a 2nd ribbon at a National show and produces lovely babies.

The horses are in, Mexico and Fifi came in fine, Jasmine was more difficult. She walked across the first field fine then wouldn't go through the gate, eventually when we got through the gate she pulled most of the way across the second field and then once again wouldn't go through the next gate, eventually once she got through the next gate we managed to get back to the stables, I wasn't too impressed but that's part of life with Jasmine. She is a very difficult mare that has had a very difficult passed.

It's now dark and raining out, winter is so dull, I can't wait for the summer nights.

Lifes rules by Bill Gates

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! To anyone with kids of any age, here's some advice. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping - they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

It's still raining but not to heavy. I'll go and get the tube lights around 2.30pm ish then I can go straight to the school. It's homework club tonight which is really good. It only lasts about 10 minutes and keeps you up to date with what the children are doing that week at school and to talk you through the piece of homework for that week.
After homework club I'd like to get the horses in before the temprature starts to drop, then I can go back down there again this evening after dinner.
I have just eaten a strawberry muller Vitality yoghurt, it was quite nice...they come in packs of 6, 3 strawberry and 3 cherry, I'm not sure I'll be too keen on the cherry ones, the Sugargliders will probably like them though. They seem to like most yogurts.

I must remember to go and get two new tube lights later today, one for the bathroom and one for the bedroom.
It's started to rain now so hopefully I'll be able to get the horses in early and then go back there later this evening.
We are having sweet and sour tonight. I don't know why we don't have it more often because we all enjoy it.

Been down to the stables this morning, it's mare's out today, they couldn't get out quick enough. It's very windy out so I don't really want to leave them out too late.
I missed a parcel for the second time today which now means I'll have to go to Basildon to collect it.

Everyone is still asleep, I don't have to wake them up until about 7am. It's still dark out out and looks quite windy.
I need to phone Thorogoods this week to order some more bales of the Hunter woods shavings for the horses.
We hve two family Birthdays this week, Jim on the 13th and my mum on the 15th.
We have still got to give out some party invitations to Samantha's birthday party, we gave a few out Friday but hope to finish off the rest today.
A few of the parents from Samantha's class are doing a collection this morning to get a friend some flowers. A friend of ours has recently lost her 32 years old daughter due to the use of drugs, it has been very upsetting for everyone. Our friend has been the full time guardian for her grandaugher for about a year now and will continue to raise the little girl. Both her and her husband are doing a wonderful job of raising the little girl and have given her a wonderful homelife, it's so sad to see the family going throuh this very sad time.

Been down to the stables, the wind is picking up again and it's raining on and off. Went round to see Pat and Jim, had a cup of tea and a couple of my favourite biscuits, jam doggers...
I won't be doing too much tonight, I'll probably do a small snack in a minute, other than that just wind down for the evening.

Went down the stables, we have got winter turn out at the moment which means mares one and geldings the next, they alternate daily until summer when they can go out every day. Today is the geldings day out so we put Monty and Rio out mucked out and fed the mares Mexico, Fifi and Jasmine.

We went to Wiltons to get some chinchilla and rat food then went onto the Harvester for lunch which was nice and also means I won't have to cook a dinner tonight.

Went to Makro's to get a few bits of shopping then came home.

On the radio it said there is a diversion on the M25 and that the Queen Elisabeth bridge is closed along with Dartford tunnel hence the traffic is being dirverted through the Blackwell tunnel.

My chinchillas have their own unit which is insulated and has both air conditioning and heating. The heating is mainly used when there are babies born during the colder winter months where as the air conditioning is used most of the summer.

Tea and jam on toast for breakfast, nothing too exciting but I enjoyed it. It's day light out now and looks much calmer than yesterday.
Everyone else in the house is still asleep so it's still nice and quite.

I'm the first one in the house up this morning so the house is nice and quite. It's still dark out but doesn't seem to be windy like yesterday, if anything it seems quite calm.
